Biography

Tammy Whetham’s love and passion for storytelling has taken her down many avenues as a singer, actor, dancer, voice-over artist, director, and educator. Tammy holds an Honours BMus from Wilfrid Laurier University and has completed additional training programs at The Banff Centre, NYU Steinhardt, Shenandoah University, and NYU Langone Medical School. Select performance highlights include Jack and the Beanstalk and Alice in Wonderland with Diversified Theatre, the New Sunshine Festival’s Wild Blue Yonder, travelling across the globe at sea with Japan Cruise Line, and performing 50s and 60s music as Miss Tammy Darling. In 2021, Miss Tammy Darling released her debut single, “Mr. Bartender.

 Tammy is versatile in singing and teaching various genres including classical, musical theatre, jazz, and pop with a special interest in contemporary singing styles. Function-based voice pedagogy is the foundation of Tammy’s teaching. Her instruction is guided by voice science providing her with the tools to evaluate and identify technical inefficiencies in her students.  Tammy strives to develop a strong, balanced, flexible and efficient voice with freedom of tonal colour and expression. She encourages students toward vocally healthy, stylistically accurate, and artistic performances. Students in her studio have been accepted to Canada’s top classical and musical theatre training programs, received invitations to OMFA Provincials, and successfully completed RCM examinations. As an adjudicator and juror, Tammy has worked for Merriam Music Festival, Ontario Arts Council, Cambridge Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts, Kiwanis Music Festival, and NATS.
