Biography

Taran Kim is a performer based in Toronto. Holding a Bachelors of Musical Theatre Performance from Sheridan College, he has a passion for movement and how it can convey story. As an emerging Asian artist in Canada, he is determined to see and create an environment without barriers for generations to come.  He believes that  movement can be used as the universal language in his story-telling, one that everyone can understand and connect with. He has 8+ years of Competitive Dance experience in Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop and Latin/Ballroom, 4+ years of Tap and Theatre Jazz, and 4+ years of teaching experience and as a choreographer.

Having to switch gears during the pandemic, Taran has found joy and opportunity helping companies switching to Digital Media as a Video Editor. He has edited over 15 projects in the past year for Musical Stage Co., Sheridan College, Cawthra Park, Randolph College, Bravo Academy, COSA Canada and others. He is the ‘Lead Video Producer’ for Stream Stage Productions, a local business built to help companies live stream their artistic work during the pandemic. While he is itching to get back into live theatre, the past year he has cherished his time supporting others in their ventures into unknown territory and is grateful to have been a part of it.

His credits include On The Town, Newsies and Stars of Mars (Theatre Sheridan); Kiss of the Spiderwoman and Sunday in the Park with George (Eclipse) and made his professional debut in 2019 in Drayton’s Production of Newsies where he was nominated for Dancer of the Decade by Broadway World Toronto. ‘ Taran is incredibly excited to be extended his work with Bravo to Choreography and to work with such talented students this year.
