Biography
Anthony Palermo is a performer, writer/composer, director, and producer, recently graduated from University of Toronto & Sheridan College’s joint program for Theatre & Drama Studies. As a writer and composer, Anthony’s original work has been professionally produced by Musical Stage Company in One Song Glory 2022, and Soulpepper Theatre’s Queer Youth Cabaret 2022, where they premiered and performed in their original solo song-cycle, She, Men, and the Giant Snake. Most recently, Hart House Theatre produced the Toronto premiere of their new show, The Gray: A Wilde Musical (Book, Music, Lyrics & Direction), marking it as the best sold show of the company’s 2022/2023 season to date. Other writing credits include; Mythic Women & Their Cabaret to Save Humanity (Music & Lyrics, Director/ University of Toronto), winner of “Best Musical” & “Best Musical Achievement” at the 2022 UofT Drama Coalition Awards; The Gray (Book, Music & Lyrics, Director/ UofT), winner of “Best Original Work” & “Best Direction” at the 2022 UofT Drama Coalition Awards; and Functioning: A Piece in 5 Jordans (Book, Music & Lyrics), commissioned by Theatre Oculus as their 2021 Artist-in-Residence. Selected theatre acting credits include; Retrograde (Toronto Fringe), Alcestis, Tartuffe, The Witch of Edmonton (Theatre Erindale), Bare: A Pop Opera, Ghost Quartet, Essay (University of Toronto), and Drama 101: A New Musical (Toronto Fringe). For Film/ TV, Anthony has appeared in Workin’ Moms Seasons 6 & 7 (CBC/ Netflix), Macy Murdoch (CBC/ Shaftesbury), and Pie Boy (Ace Entertainment Inc).
